چکیده

Exciton effects on soliton and bipolaron lattice states are investigated using an electron-lattice Peierls model with long-range Coulomb interactions. The Hartree-Fock (HF) approximation and the single-excitation configurationinteraction (single-CI) method are used to obtain optical absorption spectra. We discuss the following properties: (1) The attraction between the excited electron and the remaining hole makes the excitation energy smaller when the correlations are taken into account by the single-CI. The oscillator strengths of the lower excited states become relatively larger than in the HF calculations. (2) We look at variations of relative oscillator strengths of two or three kinds of ∗Electronic mail address: [email protected].

Exciton Effects and Nonlinear Optical Response in Soliton Lattice States of Doped Conjugated Polymers

Exciton effects on conjugated polymers are investigated in the soliton lattice system. We use the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model with long-range Coulomb interactions treated by the single-excitation configuration-interaction method. The soliton band is present in the Peierls gap of the doped system. There appears a new kind of the exciton where an electron-hole pair is excited between the soliton b...

Isotope Effect on the Formation Energy of Soliton in t - Polyacetylene

The formation energy of a soliton was derived in the TLM model to be 2∆ 0 /π which is independent of the masses of the polymer atoms. We estimate effects of the electron-phonon coupling on the soliton formation energy, particularly, through modifications of the harmonic oscillations of (CH) groups. A model based on the amplitude mode formalism is used and the electron-phonon coupling is taken i...

Small Bipolarons in the 2-dimensional Holstein-Hubbard Model

The spatially localized bound states of two electrons in the adiabatic two-dimensional HolsteinHubbard model on a square lattice are investigated both numerically and analytically. The interplay between the electron-phonon coupling g, which tends to form bipolarons and the repulsive Hubbard interaction υ ≥ 0, which tends to break them, generates many different ground-states. There are four doma...

Soliton-Mediated electron Pairing

We study electron-electron pairing in an one-dimensional model lattice system embedded into a three-dimensional environment. The electron pair potential is lowered by a single, localized lattice deformation. Such a deformation is related to solitons moving along the lattice. Yet the exact form and the time evolution of the lattice excitation are of secondary relevance as the electron pair is st...

Small Bipolarons in the 2-dimensional Holstein-Hubbard Model II Quantum Bipolarons

We study the effective mass of the bipolarons and essentially the possibility to get both light and strongly bound bipolarons in the Holstein-Hubbard model and some variations in the vicinity of the adiabatic limit. Several approaches to investigate the quantum mobility of polarons and bipolarons are proposed for this model. First, the quantum fluctuations are treated as perturbations of the me...
